24 Hour Party People

Berlin nightlife can't be stopped.

Berlin is Europe?s clubbing capital, with an estimated 10,000 partiers flying in every weekend to enjoy the nightlife and endless minimal techno sessions that go well into?Sunday and Monday at the likes of Berghain and Weekend. It?s also one of the top destinations in the world for gay travel, thanks to the thriving gay bar scene and a plethora of queer-themed cultural events. Then there?s the sex. A common comparison is to New York City in the 1970s, minus the crime. Apart from bars, there are cinemas, saunas, and nude sunbathing in Tiergarten and Friedrichshain?s Volkspark. Rent boys gather on the corner of Fuggerstrasse and Eisenacherstrasse. Caveat emptor: Hang on to your wallets and other valuables. You can find sex parties every day and many of the bars provide action-packed backrooms. There?s a club for everyone in Berlin, no matter your taste, whether you?re in the mood for a quiet neighborhood spot, kinky fetishes, or some of the hugest and best techno warehouses. Another bonus: There?s no official closing hour anymore.

In the West, the traditionally gay neighborhood of Sch?neberg is still an epicenter of gay nightlife, but the area has grayed over the years and is inhabited by the 40- and 50-something middle-class crowd. A younger and edgier crowd has migrated to Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain, Prenzlauer Berg, and the rapidly gentrifying Neuk?lln. Make sure to check Discodamaged.net, which has an up-to-date listing of the vast selection of gay nightlife in Berlin. Parties and venues tend to change, so check details before you go out.
