It may be a while before we have the first openly gay president of the United States, but you could be the first gay person to own Air Force One—if you’ve got the dough. The U.S. government is auctioning off a plane that has been used to fly presidents and vice presidents around. As the official Twitter account for the U.S. General Services Administration announced on Thursday: “Presidential history for sale! Former Air Force One/Two DC-9 up for auction.”
Technically, an Air Force jet needs to have the president on board for it to be called Air Force One, but as the GSA Auction Page explains, this DC-9 “was part of Air Force 2 and may have acted as Air Force 1.”
Think you’ve got the right stuff? Bidding starts at $50,000.
