If you can’t make it to Brazil yourself, the next best thing is to bring Brazil to you, right? According to New York’s official tourism board, NYC & Company, the city has seen a huge jump in visitors from Brazil, making that country the second most important overseas market. Last year, 826,000 Brazilians came to New York City, compared with 112,000 in 2006.
“We have never seen anything like it,” NYC & Company’s George Fertitta says. “We have seen big surges in visitors from Ireland but the surge from Brazil is unique in scale.”
