New Bill Would Let Ryan Gosling Bring His Dog on Amtrak

House of Representatives considering a bill to allow pets on Amtrak.

OK, we admit it. The headline above is just an excuse to post a cute picture of Ryan Gosling and his pooch. But there is good news out of Washington, D.C., that would benefit Gosling and any other traveling pet owner. The House of Representatives is now considering a bill that would allow domesticated cats and dogs on Amtrak.
The Pets on Trains Act of 2013, which was introduced on Tuesday, would reverse a current policy of prohibiting animals on trains unless they are traveling with people with disabilities.
“My dog, Lily, is a part of our family and travels with us to and from California all the time. If I can take her on a plane, why can’t I travel with her on Amtrak, too?” said Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.), who is a co-sponsor of the bill. “Allowing families to bring their animals will facilitate transportation and efficiency while also providing a much-needed revenue source for Amtrak.”
