British Airways launched its first A380 service, a double decker plane that's the world's largest passenger jet, to North America this week, with direct service from London to L.A. The legendary airline celebrated the milestone will a huge party in the Hollywood Hills, co-sponsored by Variety.

Flying between London and Los Angeles just got more glamorous as the first A380 double-decker British Airways plane landed in L.A. on Tuesday.

BA is calling the flight the "red carpet route" with four cabins and luxurious food overseen by the Langham Hotel; first class includes meals of poached lobster and seared scallops. The flight, BA's first A380 connection between London and North America, carries 469 passengers.

To celebrate the new flight, BA threw a sumptuous party on Wednesday night at a gorgeous estate in the Hollywood Hills. With impeccable views, food by Langham, performances by Foxes and Gabrielle Aplin, BA flight attendants, and celebrity spottings like The Daily Show's John Oliver, the party was a glam success.
