The first of his kind.

Comics have long been one of the most accepting facets of the entertainment industry when it came to LGBT inclusion and acceptance.

Now, thanks to author Brian Andersen, the first gay Mormon superhero is bringing a fresh perspective to the religious aspect of the debate on LGBT equality.

“Basically, I wanted to mine the religious lore and mythology of the Mormon Church to empower a homosexual hero, Andersen told The Huffington Post. “To show that a gay character is every bit as worthy in the eyes of God as any heterosexual one.”

The comic, Stripling Warrior, follows gay newlywed Sam Shepard who is visited by an angel and called to serve God as a hero on Earth.
