pre stonewall movies

Queer film festivals kick off in New York, Miami, and Seattle.

Queer Cinema Before Stonewall
New York - Running until May, the Film Society at Lincoln Center program explores films spanning the years between the turn-of-the-century to the dawn of the equal rights movement. It's an obscure history of queer cinema worth the price of admission running titles such as Reflections in a Golden EyeSylvia Scarlett, and Glen or Glenda?
18th Annual MiFo LGBT Film Festival

Miami - The Miami LGBT film festival kicked off its 18th year with a lineup of more than 80 films hailing from 28 countries. This dedication to diversity is reflected in its offerings which include a Swedish film about Christmas, a Russian film about music, and a Korean film about a working man. The festival runs through May 1. For more information or tickets visit mifofilm.com.

Translations
Seattle- The Translations: the 11th Seattle Transgender Film Festival kicks off its 2016 program from May 12 - 15 in Seattle's Capitol Hill. Highlights of the festival include films about pioneers in the trans community, Lena Dunham's Suited, and a discussion with the talent behind the Amazon original series, Transparent.
