Gay Man Stabbed on NYC Subway by Suspect Shouting Homophobic Slurs

A gay man traveling with his boyfriend and sister was allegedly stabbed Saturday night while riding the subway in New York City. 

The victim, whose name has not been released, was riding the 1 subway train around 7 pm when he was attacked at the 110th St Station. Before stabbing him, the suspect shouted homophobic slurs, police told The New York Post.

The attacker was reportedly upset when he noticed the victim, 28, with his boyfriend, and the two exchanged words on the train. Shortly after, the assailant yelled "you faggot!" and stabbed the man in the left side of his chest and ran. The victim was taken to St. Luke's hospital and, as of Sunday morning, was in serious but stable condition. 

The assailant has not yet been detained, but authorities are investigating the attack as a hate crime. According to Gothamist, police are currently looking for a 6'1" Hispanic man, about 30 years old, in connection with the stabbing. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and khaki shorts.
