Delta is following in the wake of Virgin and Air New Zealand; creating memorable safety videos with hopes they'll go viral and actually get fliers to pay attention to evacuation procedures.
While Virgin employed well-toned dancers to instruct passengers on seat belts and water landings, and Air New Zealand brought in everything from hobbits to Betty White, Delta brought back icons from the 1980s. There are hair band rockers, Teddy Ruxpin, breakdancers, and basketball star Kareem Abdul-Jabar, who played a pilot in the 1980 classic Airplane!
