Masturbating Man Diverts Virgin America Flight

A young man suffered what may have been a drug-induced mental breakdown during a Monday flight from Boston to L.A., causing the plane to divert to Omaha, Neb.

The Bay Area man, Doug Ross, reportedly touched himself, paced the aisles frantically, and even attempted to open one of the planes doors while it was in the air. Crew, passengers, and off-duty Boston police officers restrained the man — who was wearing a hospital bracelet — until the plane could touch down in Omaha. The Omaha police confirmed 26-year-old Ross was "masturbating in flight and later tried to open the exit door." Passengers reportedly praised Virgin America staff for their handling of the incident.
