Icelandair is giving us travel envy with their latest ad. Not only does it feature many of the country's beautiful sites, including the Northern Lights and the Gullfoss waterfall. It also includes a gay couple enjoying what appears to be a relaxing, romantic vacation.
“This ad portrays a cultural trip to Iceland and the group it’s aimed at is people who travel to enjoy what life has to offer with their loved ones," Icelandair’s brand manager Jón Skafti Kristjánsson told Gay Iceland. "So it was an obvious choice to use a loving middle-aged couple for such an ad; it’s worked well for us in the past. But this time we thought: why not add to the diversity and make this loving, middle-aged couple a same-sex couple?”
Iceland has an excellent track record of LGBTQ friendly culture. They elected the world's first-ever openly gay prime minister, Johanna Sigurdardottir, who helped make marriage equality happen there.
