In light of the marriage equality SCOTUS hearing, a look at a few high-profile nuptuals that continue to inspire
Yesterday marked an historic occasion with the Supreme Court hearing oral arguments for and against marriage equality, with the expectation that some kind of decisive judgement will eventually be handed down. In anticipation of what we hope is good news for LGBT couples everywhere in the U.S., we've taken a look back at where some high-profile gay and lesbian couples have said their "I dos."
September 2014: Actor Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka (shown above at the 87th Annual Academy Awards) tied the knot in Italy, wearing Tom Ford tuxedos. Sir Elton John provided entertainment at their reception.

August 2008: Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi exchanged their vows with close friends and family at their home in Los Angeles. Sweet Lady Jane made their vegan red velvet wedding cake.
July 2013: Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson (pictured above at The New Yorker’s White House Correspondents Dinner Pre-Party) married Justin Mikita in New York City with Tony Kushner officiating the ceremony and the afterparty held at the Crosby Street Hotel.

October 2008: Actor George Takei wed Brad Altman, his longtime partner and co-star of “It Takeis Two” (the video of their latest episode above) at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles. The ceremony, which drew elements from many cultures, included show tunes from “A Chorus Line”, a Buddhist priest and a Japanese Koto harp.
