We're only a week away from previews for the Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and producers announced this week the show will offer a lottery and standing room policy for discount-seekers.
The lottery begins two-and-a-half hours before each performance; those interested should go to the Belasco Theatre on 44th Street, site of the production, and enter. Winners will be drawn two hours before the performance and offered tickets at $37 a head. The show will also feature a standing room policy, with tickets available the day of the performance and beginning when the box office opens — but they're only obtainable if the show is sold out.
Previews for Hedwig, the Broadway premiere of John Cameron Mitchell's iconic off-Broadway story of a transgender rock star (later turned into an equally beloved film), begin March 29, with opening night April 22. Harris, starring as Hedwig (as Mitchell did in the previous incarnation), returns to Broadway for the first time since his appearing in Assassins a decade ago.
