Zurich Hosts EuroPride '09 Part Three

Known as the “gay capital” of Switzerland, Zurich is hosting the 40th annual EuroPride celebration this spring. The event runs from early May through June 7. Full details can be found online at: www.europride09.eu.

HIGHLIGHTS
May 2:
The opening party and concert will feature popular Swiss performers.

Through May 6:
Check out the ?Pink Apple? gay and lesbian film festival, also on during the EuroPride. Although the website is in German, many of the movies are in English.

Through June 7:
EuroPride coincides with Zurich?s ?warmer Mai? ? loosely translated as ?Gay May.? It?s an annual festival of art, music and stage events that spotlight the local gay and lesbian community. Some of the performances are in English.

May 29-June 1:
The EuroPride sports weekend will include athletic competitions, a dance tournament, a formal ball and a brunch.

May 29-June 7:
Be sure to visit the EuroPride Centerpoint lounge both for fun and the latest information. The event label LockerRoom will put on a new theme each day, including Rocky Horror, Las Vegas and Swiss apr?s ski.

June 4:
The official EuroPride gala dinner will feature Swiss tenor Leo Wundergut and the Kur&Bad orchestra.

June 5-6:
It?s party-time at the Zurich Town Festival, where visitors can expect cool people, cold drinks, hot music and hopefully warm weather. The weekend will culminate in the big EuroPride parade.

June 7:
On the last day there?ll be a Swiss-style brunch buffet, closing ceremonies and an ecumenical church service.
