Los Angeles - In 1973, at a small cocktail party in West Hollywood, Bette Davis and Mae West met for the first time. The party's bartender taped the conversation on a small cassette recorder and that recording has been used to dub a filmed recreation of that night, When Bette Met Mae.
“Bette Davis and Mae West never let men run their personal or professional lives. They stood up for what they believed in and had strong convictions about getting what they wanted in their professional lives. Those qualities resonate with the gay community today. They truly were the Lady Gaga and Madonna of their era. They also recognized gay culture as valuable and important,” says the film's director Wes Wheadon.
When Bette Met Mae will be shown at special LGBT screenings at the Arena Cinema in Hollywood:
Boys night: Monday, August 24 @ 10:30 p.m.
Girls night: Tuesday, August 25 @ 6:10 p.m.
Drag Night: Wednesday, August 26 @ 7:30 p.m.
