London by Locals

No matter how many times I visit London, it feels like my first time. Then and now, I am terminally lost, geographically and socially -- a permanent tourist in an enormous and often overwhelming city.

Visit London's brand new LGBT website looks like it'll rescue me the next time I'm out and about in that massive town. Rather than giving me a list of queer places and letting me waste my days on a doomed scavenger hunt, it relies on a couple of queer London lifers to recommend what they like best in a city they've known forever.

There's a handy helping of gay-owned and such bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels, etc., but the writers' favorite romantic spots, organic cafes, and urban outdoors experiences are also written up. Some of these are not gay-specific, but since the writers are local LGBTs themselves, their preferences are probably still worth a peek.

Visit London is also London's official visitor organization, so their "rainbow" microsite is also a nice acknowledgment of the importance of LGBT travel!
