Ka to Resume in Vegas After Performer's Death
Cirque du Soleil is bringing back its much-loved Ka production following the death last month of performer Sarah Guillot-Guyard.
The 31-year-old mother was in Ka since it premiered seven years ago at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. During the climax of a June 29 performance, Guillot-Guyard fell 90 feet to her death while still wearing her harness. Many audience members believed the fall was part of the show but realized things went awry when they heard performers crying; the audience was soon dismissed. Guillot-Guyard, a longtime acrobat and aerialist, leaves behind two children and many friends in Vegas and her hometown of Paris.
Ka will resume Tuesday night and be dedicated to Guillot-Guyard. The finale will be changed from the aerial battle scene — in which Guillot-Guyard fell — to a "dressing-ritual" scene.
