Check Out the Versace Miami Mansion

Realtors recently held an open house for Casa Casuarina — the home where designer Gianni Versace lived and died — and reporters and the super-wealthy descended upon the opulent Miami Beach palace.

The 23,000 square foot palace is equipped with everything from an observatory to a "Medusa shower" to a private bedroom for Madonna; the ornate pool is outfitted with 24-carat gold tiles. Versace bought the mansion, located on Ocean Drive, for $10 million in 1992 (he plunked $33 million more into the house). The gay fashion designer was shot and killed in front of the house in 1997 by serial killer Andrew Cunanan. Since then, the mansion has changed hands several times, serving as a members' only club and a high-end hotel at different times.

While it hit the market in 2012 for $125 million, its asking price tumbled and is now going for $25 million, as the last owner went bankrupt.
