July/August 2005 | Trongsa, Bhutan

Reader Randall Brown caught these Buddhist monks leaving their quarters at Bhutan’s Trongsa Dzong (a fortress-temple built in its present form in 1644), located in the ancestral home of the Bhutanese royal family. Centuries ago caravans registered here when traveling from eastern to western Bhutan, the last independent Buddhist kingdom in the lower Himalayas. Of his 25-day tour, Brown says, “I couldn’t have been closer to the people and their lives.”

Send Us Your Souvenirs
We at The Out Traveler would like to print your travel photos in the magazine and online. If there are images of your friends, family, and lovers, we may need to have you send paperwork in order for us to reproduce your photos.
To have your photos appear in the magazine, we need either high-resolution color scans (300 dpi), or you can send copies of your photos. Please do not send originals, since we may not be able to return them to you.
To send photos for display on the Web site, lower resolutions (72 dpi) will work.

Send your images and questions to souvenir@outtraveler.com
