Two years ago, Sweet Cakes by Melissa refused to make a wedding cake for Laurel and Rachel Bowman-Cryer, saying it violated religious beliefs. According to a 2007 Oregon law, however, private businesses are not allowed to discriminate against potential customers. That means the two ladies were due for some serious moolah in damages…

After refusing to compensate the Cryers for nearly six months, Sweet Cakes finally payed over $135,000 in state-ordered damages. Congrats to the new couple on both their wedding and fat paycheck.
