The life of Ireland's marriage equality heroine hits the big screen next month. 

Panti dominated Dublin's gay scene long before she became the international marriage equality darling she is today. Drag persona of Rory O'Neill, proprietress of the popular Pantibar, and self-proclaimed 'national fucking treasure," Panti is the focus of the upcoming feature-length documentary, The Queen of Ireland, directed by Conor Horgan.

Tracing Panti's journey from childhood as a young gay boy in rural Ballinrobe to the iconic face and cinched figure of Ireland's successful marriage equality referendum, the documentary offers unprecedented insight into the man behind the woman:

"My job as a drag queen is to commentate from the fringes, to stand on the outside looking in shouting abuse."

The Queen of Ireland opens across Ireland on October 21. Watch the trailer below:
