The documentary takes a look at the safe space provided by gay bars in the wake of the Pulse massacre.

Ten years ago, Malcolm Ingram captured a portrait of the queer community in rural Mississippi. Small Town Gay Bar explored a handful of local gay establishments and the patrons that made them tick. It was a film that embodied the social climate for the LGBT community at the time.

A decade later, Ingram is returning to the south. In the era of marriage equality and the Pulse shooting, our community is experiencing the highs and lows of society. What Ingram refers to as a “spiritual follow-up” to Small Town Gay Bar, Southern Pride will go inside the Just Us Lounge in Biloxi to write a new chapter of this story.

Ingram recently started a crowdfunding page to make this documentary a reality. With plans to start shooting after the new year until June, he needs our help to get there.
