The Life Ball fundraiser gala is one of the most fabulous scenes of the European gay social calendar, and this year features a music performance by Mary J. Blige, a fashion show by Jean Paul Gaultier, special guests, dozens of musical performers, dancers, models, and a racous all-night party at Vienna’s historic City Hall. It is not to be missed, and this year kicks off the gayest week in Vienna's recent history (to be capped off by the Eurovision Song Contest the following weekend.)
To enter the contest, post a photo on the Austrian Airlines Facebook page of you and your partner in the costumes that you would to wear to the Life Ball (contest deadline is May 10). Each year the costume theme changes, and the gorgeous annual Style Bible offers up extravagant inspirations for the theme. This year’s theme is gold. (See also: the gold theme in action in the image of Conchita Wurst as Gustav Klimt’s iconic “Golden Adele” in an image by star photographer Ellen von Unwerth).
The most creative costumes will be selected and the winners will be flown to Vienna on Austria Airlines, lodging at a glamorous hotel, and two tickets to the Life Ball on May 16.
