Name: Anders Løve Kyhl
Age: 36
Hometown: Copenhagen, Denmark
What are three things people should know about you?
I am very passionate about sports, especially running. I’m getting a bachelors degree in health and nutrition. And I love to cook. Actually, I need four things in this category as I love to travel with my boyfriend.
When traveling, what do you never leave home without?
My pillow. I can only sleep with my pen pillow, and a "survival kit" with earplugs, eyeshades, toothbrush, etc.
Where is your all-time favorite travel destination?
I really love Miami Beach. To choose between New York and Miami Beach is difficult because I love both cities a lot. However, due to the sandy beaches and the weather, I have to go with Miami.
Describe the perfect weekend in Copenhagen.
The perfect weekend would be in the summer time, from June to early September, since the weather is usually very nice late summer, early autumn. Be a local and rent a bike as this will be the best way to move around over the weekend. Since I love royal stuff, I would do some sightseeing in Rosenborg Castle and Amalienborg, and maybe even Christiansborg.
Take a break in Kongens with some sandwiches and drinks, and feel the urban life of Copenhagen. In the evening, either go barbecuing in Amager Strand area or find a nice restaurant in meatpackers district, Kødbyen (very nice street food kitchens can be found at Kødbyen every weekend!) Here, you can also go clubbing - Jolene is gay friendly, otherwise go to Centralhjørnet in the city center, which is an old bar with good pub atmosphere and euro pop. Continue to GAY and finish at Cosy.
On Sundays, I would take a stroll up and down Strøget, the main shopping street, find some beautiful spots behind Christiansborg, maybe visit the small parks close to Nørreport with a coffee to go from Kent Kaffelaboratorium - they have the best coffee in the city. Again, find your way around on a bike. Maybe continue to Copenhagen mall and Islands Brygge and take a break here, where you can even jump into the harbor in the nice and clean waters. You can also rent an electric boat and find you way around in the harbor by yourself or take a boat tour. So relaxing!
What is your favorite neighborhood?
I totally love Vesterbro - but there is not any area of Copenhagen that I don't like. I used to live in Vesterbro. It has a nice vibe, with the meatpackers district just next door. Furthermore, this is where you find Carlsberg and small parks to relax in, small bars and great Asian restaurant.
Alive, dead or fictional – who is your favorite local?
King Christian VII, because his story is so amazing! I'm a sucker for royalty - especially the historic figures.
