Nothing says road trip nostalgia like the Volkswagen van. It was an iconic vehicle for the hipsters, the creatives and the nomads of the world. At some point or another, we've all considered restoring one of those classic cars and running away.
Volkswagen has recently announced the return of the VW bus. They'll begin selling the new model in 2022 for the US, Europe and China. It's based on the award-winning ID Buzz concept electric vehicle, and it will use VW’s Modular Electric Drive kit, "a group of components and chassis parts engineered to maximize the potential of electric drive and future technology." Created with a modern, yet timeless design, the new model features LED headlights and ample storage space with seating for eight.
“For me, the ID Buzz concept is the most beautiful and most exciting electric car in the world,” said Dr. Herbert Diess, Chairman of the Board of Management for Volkswagen. “Our goal is clear: we want to make the fully electric, fully connected car a bestseller around the world. The iconic car of the electric age must be a Volkswagen.”
Diess promises the car will set a new standard for electric carmakers with a much more convenient price range.
