With ten days of parties, après-ski sessions, comedy, a Cirque du Soleil performance, a banquet, live music and the legendary Saturday night Snowball, it’s no wonder hundreds of enthusiastic LGBT snow bunnies descend on the streets and slopes of Whistler Mountain for the annual gay ski week, WinterPride.

Kyra Thomson reports…
It's shocking, but true: although I was born and bred in British Columbia, I had never been to Whistler in winter. So, I was exceptionally excited to be boarding the Snowbus this morning with my wife Sam to see what WinterPride has to offer couples, and what Whistler Blackcomb, the largest ski area in North America, has to offer two totally stoked snowboarders.

A snow-covered Whistler Village sign, adorned with rainbow flags, welcomed us to our destination. The bus dropped us off just outside the Visitor's Centre where a staff member from the Four Seasons Resort came to collect us.

Built just three years ago, the 273-room Four Seasons Resort Whistler has already enjoyed impressive accolades, including being the only resort in Canada to receive the AAA Five Diamond Award. Our romantic room’s rustic modern decor, warm wood accents and grand fireplace have almost tempted us to stay in for the night, but the call of WinterPride at night beckons.

Check back tomorrow for tales from the slopes and parties of Whistler!
