KLM Wants You to Join the Mile High Club

  KLM and FBPhotos.com

Hate getting on the plane and sitting next to that screaming baby or talky granny who just doesn’t shut up? And you notice that good-looking guy is sitting just one row behind? Well now you can choose to sit next to that hot guy -- and maybe even arrange a meet beforehand.

Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM), will soon beging testing service that fuses social networking to the real-world. Once you check-in to your flight, use Facebook or Linked In profile pictures to see who you will be sitting next to, or, move around to find to the perfect match. Whether you want to talk business, sleep, make a friend for life or a friend with benefits, there's now a new way to join the Mile High Club -- and it's airline-approved. The service takes flight early next year.

Will this be the bump it takes to get KLM into The World's Best Airlines?  At the very least it's bound to become another way airlines are improving and impressing in Economy Class. See a video explaining it all after the jump.

Hot on their tails, Malaysia Airlines didn’t want KLM to take all the fun away. Their new concept is simple. Check-in, then check out who else of your friends (via Facebook profiles) will also be on your flight, or who is heading in the same direction! You might not see seat selections, but you can arrange to grab a pre-flight cocktail or a little layover endezvous. Simple and easy, we wonder why it hadn't been thought of before.
