The new Pavilion will include a Waterford Crystal chandelier in homage to the chandeliers that hung in the club before it burned down.

Next to dance beats that made your body shake, heat that (on some nights) filled your shoes with sweat, and suntanned boys at every turn, one of the things that people remember most from the old Pavilion is the crystal chandeliers that then-owner John Whyte first installed in 1989.

But memories were all anyone had from that legendary club in Fire Island’s Pines community—the Pavilion burned down in 2011—until now. This week, owners of the new club, scheduled to reopen Memorial Day Weekend, announced that Waterford Crystal will donate a new chandelier, to be hung in the Pavilion in homage to the trademark fixtures destroyed in the fire.

“The legacy of the Pavilion is so unique and cherished. Waterford is proud to recapture a piece of the past with this chandelier,” said Michael Craig, Waterford group vice president of the Americas. “Chandeliers hang in some of the most famous and iconic buildings around the globe, and this fits right in with the timeless allure of the Pavilion nightclub.”

Wait, there’s more: The new chandelier will be engraved with the names of 25 people—DJs, benefactors, influencers—who helped make the Pavilion such an iconic club. And you have a chance to be included among the 25. Write down your most fabulous memories from the Pavilion (500 words or less) and submit them to The winner will have his/her name etched into the new chandelier.
