Exclusive | Sunset on Lake Vallecito

Before departing on a two-year trip of traveling and volunteering time to provide free eyecare to various countries, a secret, peaceful place, Lake Vallecito, in Colorado, was discovered.

The original plan was to visit friends in Denver, but that was not possible. Thanks to that and having no job, it was possible to wake up and decide where the next destination would be. Where to next? Lake Vallecito was the choice and thanks to a friend a three-day trip turned into 16 days.

If you like mountains, water, boating, horseback riding, fishing and swimming this is the place for you. Neighboring Durango, Colorado has a larger gay community and offers more of a city life if you get tired of reading a book or boating on the lake. But not to worry, a handful of boys live near the lake. Furthermore, if you want hot sulfur springs, visit Pagosa Springs or the clothing-optional, gay-friendly Orvis hot springs in Ouray.

Everyone should visit this wonderful oasis. -- Michael Siebert
