Thailand has long been at the forefront of trans rights and acceptance. A leading destination for gender confirmation procedures, lawmakers plan on recognizing a third gender in the newly proposed national constitution. Recently, Thailand's second oldest university, Thammasat University, announced that it would incorporate trans issues into its core curriculum.

All incoming students to the national university will take a class on gender and sexuality, which will include a talk from Thailand's most famous trans man, Kritipat Chotidhanitsakul. By the end of the year, 8000 freshman will have heard Chotidhanitsakul talk about being a trans person. A landscape architecture student, Vichaya Chaovanasrimanont, was at the first lecture held, and said after:

‘I didn’t understand transgender people before. I thought they were weird. Now I understand they are not different. We are all the same.’
