Report: "Gay-Friendly" Gets the Gay Traveler

LGBT people consider a "gay-friendly" reputation the third most important factor—behind price and location—when choosing hotels.

OutTravelers could care less about gay festivals, fairs, and events when they plan their vacations—but just barely, according to a report from LGBT marketing firm Community Marketing.

The findings that most distinguish gay travelers from the others are their spending habits—they spend 57 percent more than other travelers, on average—and that they consider an “LGBT-friendly” reputation as the third-most important factor when choosing a hotel, behind price and location. The hotels most mentioned as gay-friendly by those surveyed were Hilton, Kimpton, Marriott, W Hotels, and Hyatt.
