Rejoice travelers who come through the Tri-State area's airports, you can now kiss expensive Internet goodbye. Until now, only select terminals had free Wi-Fi like Delta and JetBlue have had free Wi-Fi access. Now, all three of New York's airports will allow travelers free and unlimited Internet. John F. Kennedy, La Guardia, and Newark will not only allow you to connect, but it will also be much, much faster—According to the Port Authority, it will be 20 megabits per second and up to 50 megabits per second with two-click access.
Thanks to this new speed, customers will be able to stream Netflix and FaceTime with ease. “Our testing consistently showed speeds that will comfortably allow for that,” says Robert Galvin, Port Authority's chief technology officer. Orbitz now shows that the three airports will have some of the fastest speeds (Phoenix Sky Harbor's is the slowest at 9.52 megabits) while Seattle beats out the competition with 103 megabits per second.
