Don't Miss the Big Gay Ice Cream & Gap Collaboration in NYC

Gay ice cream and fashion, what better combination is there?

The team behind New York’s Big Gay Ice Cream shops have teamed up with Gap to transform the retailer’s concept space into a colorful cone of graphic tees.

First launched at the end of June to commemorate New York City’s Pride, the pop-up store, located at Gap’s flagship on Fifth Avenue between 53rd and 54th Streets, features unicorn murals, piñatas, and, of course, ice cream.

Gap has created three limited-edition prints that use Big Gay Ice Cream’s iconic rainbow-stripped ice cream swirl — one as a beehive hairdo on top of a woman’s head, one as a beard on a man’s chin, and one with a unicorn enjoying said ice cream.

“They reached out to us about doing it,” said Bryan Petroff, co-owner and co-founder of Big Gay Ice Cream. “They wanted something that coincided with Pride — they thought about us and how fund it would be to do something offbeat and ice cream-centric.”

The popup, which features three standard printed T-shirts, along with a “What’s your flavor?” station, where you can mix and match logos and different shirt colors, runs through July 26 (sorry, it's not available for purchase online).
