Feb 2004 | Phuket, Thailand

Photographer Stewart Shining shot this photo while on assignment at Thailand's largest island, Phuket, located in the Andaman Sea off the country's southwestern coast. Known for resort towns, rice paddies, pristine beaches, and plantations of pineapple and coconut, the island also has a heavy monsoon season. Shining says, "The minute we boarded a boat to go out and take a water shot, it began raining. One of our models, an Italian named Samuele, jumped into the ocean on a break. I looked over and happened to see him cutting through the rain-pelted water. It has since become one of my favorite photos."

Send Us Your Souvenirs

We at The Out Traveler would like to print your travel photos in the magazine and online. If there are images of your friends, family, and lovers, we may need to have you send paperwork in order for us to reproduce your photos.

To have your photos appear in the magazine, we need either high resolution color scans (300 dpi) or you can send copies of your photos. Please do not send originals, since we may not be able to return them to you.

To send photos for display on the Web site, lower resolutions (72 dpi) will work.
